The 14th Japan-Korea KMK Joint Seminar on Civil Engineering held at Kyutech

The 14th KMK Joint Seminar on Civil Engineering was held at Kyutech Tobata Campus on 21st and 22nd of August, 2018. This annual seminar has been jointly organized by Korea Maritime and Ocean University, Muroran Institute of Technology and Kyutech. Each university hosts it every three years for the exchange of technical information mainly with the research presentations by graduate students and also for the improvement of English communication and presentation skills of the students.

On the day 1, three keynote lectures by professors and 18 presentations by students were given, and the participants had active Q&A sessions . The student speakers had a good experience to give a presentation in English, and all the students who joined as audience appeared to be impressed by the presentations. In the evening, the participants and the audience enjoyed the seminar banquet together and deepened exchanges.

On the day 2, the participants went on a tour around Munakata/ Fukutsu area that was registered as one of UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage sites last year. They also went to see “Michinoeki Munakata” (a roadside station) and “Mikuni World Stadium Kitakyshu” (a football stadium) . At the stadium, the participants had a chance to step into broadcasting facilities, VIP rooms, player’s locker rooms and manger’s rooms.
