Kyutech and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) successfully co-organized the 12th International Symposium on Applied Engineering and Sciences (SAES 2024), held on November 14–15, 2024, at Kyutech's Tobata Campus.
Since its inception in 2013, SAES has been a unique platform for researchers, students, scientists, and engineers to exchange knowledge and showcase their latest research. Hosted alternately by Kyutech and UPM, the symposium takes place annually on their respective campuses. This year marked Kyutech's return to hosting the event in person after three years of virtual sessions due to the pandemic. The symposium provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen international academic networks and foster collaborative partnerships.
A total of 196 researchers and students from Kyutech, UPM, and 14 researchers and students from other universities presented their research across diverse fields, including Biological and Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Computer Sciences, Engineering and Technology, and Material Sciences. The event welcomed nearly 300 participants, including audience members, committee members, students, keynote speakers, and VIPs. Over the course of two days, this international gathering facilitated meaningful academic exchanges and strengthened global research networks.
SAES 2024 also featured a special session where Kyutech students shared their experiences from the mobility program at UPM, marking the first time such a program was hosted by UPM's School of Business and Economics. Additionally, the event included a Steering Committee Meeting and a signing ceremony to renew the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the UPM-Kyutech double degree program.
Kyutech extends its heartfelt gratitude to all participants, student helpers, staff, and volunteers from UPM and other partner universities for their invaluable contributions to the success of SAES 2024. Special thanks are also extended to the Japan Tourism Agency and the Kitakyushu Convention & Visitors Association for their support of this international symposium. The organizing committee looks forward to UPM hosting SAES 2025 next year, continuing the tradition of fostering academic collaboration and exchange.
